News:
- Indian Grand Master D. Gukesh became the youngest world chess champion at the age of 18.
- He is the second Indian to win this title after Viswanathan Anand (5-time World Chess Champion).
- He became the third Asian to win the World Championship, after Anand, and Ding Liren from China.
- The championship was held in Singapore, from November 25 to December 12, 2024.
- The final match was played between reigning champion Ding Liren (China) and D. Gukesh (India).
- The event is organized by FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs)
- The championship consisted of 14 classical games with tiebreaks scheduled if necessary.
- Gukesh won the match 7½–6½ after 14 games.
- He surpassed a league of chess icons in Garry Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik to become the youngest world champion.
